Motherhood Is a Calling And Where Your Children Rank

What combination comes to mind when you imagine the perfect mom?
The Bible teaches that God made mankind to be his image bearers. He gave Adam and Eve the royal task of filling the earth with more image bearers of the one, true King.
When our first parents disobeyed God in the garden of Eden, all of their descendants fell into sin along with them. Because of our sin, we all deserve God’s just wrath. Life, therefore, is an undeserved gift from God, never to be presumed or rejected. Christian Motherhood is evidence that God is patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.
If you’re like me, it might look a little like
  • the spiritual life of Beth Moore or Jen Wilkin…
  • the homemaking talents of June Cleaver…
  • the business-sense and personality of Joanna Gaines…
  • the affection and guidance from my own mother…
  • mixed together with the choice bits from the countless moms (and mom bloggers) I’ve encountered in my life.
Even by admitting that, I see that even in my insecurities, that I know that each mom has her strengths and weaknesses, and comparing myself to their separate highlight reels is not only unfair to them, it’s unfair to me.
Moms, your children are not trophies to be molded, polished, and shown to the world… (idols…) they are souls that are in need of physical, emotional, and most importantly, spiritual nourishment.
